Holy Father Pope Francis phoned Maximiliano Acuna, a garbage collector in Buenos Aires, who was injured in a serious accident which caused him lose his two legs through amputation. His Holiness, when got to know about Acuna through a mail from Gustavo Vera, a Buenos Aires legislator, surprised Acuna with an unexpected call which led Acuna to regain his lost courage.
As reported by Catholic News Agency, Holy Father Pope Francis encouraged Acuna by remarking that “I’m Pope Francis. A friend sent me a letter, and I was moved and struck by how much strength you have.” His Holiness continued “Always go forward because you are an example.” Acuna is now a happy person who lives with his five children in Buenos Aires trying to see his sufferings as a way to see God more closely.
