Pope Francis on Thursday expressed his concern over the emergence of the aggression against foreigners especially immigrants as well as a growing sense of nationalism which neglects the good and acts as a threat to the international cooperation, mutual respect and sustainable development goals of the United Nation while he addressed some 50 members of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. Holy Pontiff also expressed his fear over the growing threat of nuclear confrontation that risks the possibilities of War and hampers the progress in the recent past.

As per the article appeared in Vatican News, the Pope pointed out that the church has always the love of one’s people and country while respecting the cultures and habits of the other people. At the same time, he also warned the act of excluding and hating others while raising the walls of conflictual nationalism or in the context of Racism or Anti- Semitism. The Holy Father pointed out that a Nation which welcomes migrants reveals its vision of Human Dignity and its relationship with humanity. Pope Francis exclaimed that migration is a permanent feature of human history, and all nations are the result of the integration of successive waves of people or groups of migrants, who while being images of the diversity of humanity, are united by common values, cultural resources and healthy customs.

Pope Francis also stated that multilateral nuclear disarmament seems outdated and no longer stirs the political conscience of nations that possess atomic weapons. The Pope warned that the offensive and defensive nuclear arms placed on Earth and space have raised the danger of nuclear holocaust. The Pope urged the members of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences to help him spread the awareness of a renewed international solidarity with respect for human dignity, the common good, respect for the planet and the supreme good of peace.
