Holy Father Pope Francis made a surprise visit to a field hospital which is set up in Peter’s Square for the poor people, as a part of medical services for “First World Day of Poor”. During the short visit, His Holiness Pope Francis greeted volunteers and poor people waiting to receive care ahead of the First World of Poor, taking place on 19th November, 2017.
His Holiness Pope Francis was accompanied by His Excellency Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization. Holy Father Pope Francis had called for the celebration of the World Day of the Poor at the end of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. As reported by Vatican radio, a statement from the Holy See Press Office said “The tent hospital run by the Italian Red Cross offers “free medical visits for the poor and needy throughout the week from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.”
The healthcare structure is an initiative connected to “First World Day of Poor” and announced by the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization.
