Holy Father Pope Francis, at the end of the Holy Mass in Medellin, met a number of students from Scholas Occurentes, an international network of schools which was set up more than 20 years ago in Argentina by the then Archbishop Bergoglio. During the encounter, the students conveyed their hopes and difficulties and thanked His Holiness for inspiring an educational reality that was so different from others.
As reported by Vatican radio, Holy Father Pope Francis reflected that “I would like to thank you all for embarking on this scholastic experience that aims to achieve harmony through education and culture.” Further, His Holiness urged that “Promote such types of education among your peers.”
Scholas Occurentes is present in 190 countries, with nearly 450 thousand institutes and in the past, His Holiness Pope Francis had highlighted in the past about Scholas by exhorting that everyone has a value and so everyone must have equal opportunities, especially when it comes to young people who are facing life and preparing to work in tomorrow’s society.
