Holy Father Pope Francis calls for a campaign to put ‘Laudato Si’, the second encyclical of Holy Father Pope Francis with the subtitle ‘On Care for Our Common Home’, into action. His Holiness Pope Francis has endorsed a pledge to mobilize at least a million people to directly engage in implementing the encyclical that aims at protecting the environment.
Church leaders from all over the world and major environmental leaders extended their cheerful support to the ‘Laudato Si Pledge Campaign’. As reported by the Catholic News Agency, Tomas Insua, Executive Director of the Global Catholic Climate Movement conveyed that, “We are grateful and inspired by Pope Francis’ endorsement of the ‘Laudato Si’ pledge, with 1.2 billion Catholics around the world and we have a critical role to play in tackling climate change.”
Tomas Insua observed that “This pledge is inviting us to put the Church’s teachings into action and answer the urgent call for strong political action and lifestyle change put forth in ‘Laudato Si’.
