Thailand: Pope Francis urges Thai Catholics to follow in the footsteps of early missionaries In a message delivered at the National Stadium on Thursday. The pope said that the missionaries were longing for the love of God, fully understanding God’s plan and recognizing that the Thai community was their family.
When they heard and answered the word of God, they were convinced that they were part of a family that was not based on blood relations, ethnicity, or culture. Recalling the sacred history of the missionaries, the Pope said that they traveled in search of family members whom they did not know were inspired by the Holy Spirit and filled the gospel.
The pope added that all living Christians are called to missionary work. Thousands of people participated in the Holy Mass at the National Stadium in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The missionaries arrived in Thailand in the mid-16th century. Even though Buddhism is a majority country, there are many people in the country who hold Christianity to their hearts.
