The 17th International Liturgical Conference will be held at Monastery of Bose in Northern Italy from 6th June 2019. The theme for the Liturgical conference on “ALTAR-Recent acquisitions, new problems”. The Conference is being organized by the Monastery in collaboration with the National Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage of the Italian Episcopal Conference and the National Council of Architects.
The last International Liturgical Conference was held at Rome in Bose in the year 2003 on the theme –altar. After fifteen years the symposium is returning to this subject to understand the result of the historical studies conducted in the past years and discuss the new questions that have been arising. The symposium will also stress on the New Testament foundations of the Christian altar and it’s image today.
Pope Francis sent a message signed by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin in which he conveyed his greetings to the participants. He also expressed his hope that the discussions of the symposium will lead to a more mature understanding of the Liturgy as the source and culmination of an ecclesial and personal life full of fraternity.
