Greece: The possibility of the Orthodox Church in Constantinople for reunification with the Catholic Church is active. On November 30, the feast day of St. Andrew’s, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I promised the continuation of Pope Francis’ revival efforts. The importance of reconciliation is highlighted in the liturgical message delivered by the pope through the delegation of the Holy Throne.
The pope stated in his message that the complete reunion of the Catholic and Orthodox churches is not confined to theological discourse, and that the process of alienation in other ways of church life is necessary. Bartholomew, the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople, reported on the following day that the reunification with the Catholic Church was imperative.
The Union of Orthodox Journalists reported that Patriarch Bartholomew said that the remains of St. Peter, handed over to Pope Francis by the Orthodox Church, symbolized the closeness of the two churches and that no ideological differences existed.
