Thiruvalla: Divya P, a monk student of the Paliyakekara Basilian Congregation, was found drowning in a well on Friday. Post mortem reports of Divya (21) was conducted yesterday at the Kottayam Medical College. The preliminary report states that the student fell into the well and drowned. Police said minor injuries to the body may have been caused by a fall to the well. District Police Chief K.G. Simon visited the convent yesterday and got evidence. Forensic, fingerprint, and dog squad personnel were accompanying the SP.
Divya, a sixth-year student in her ascetic training, attended the Holy Mass in the chapel of the convent that morning. We ate breakfast and then went to class. When the other nuns heard the sound from the well behind the monastery, they saw Divya lying in it. With the help of locals and firefighters, she was immediately rushed to Pushpagiri Medical College but was unable to save his life. The funeral will take place today at St. George Malankara Catholic Church, Chunkappara.
