Vatican City: Pray for those who are extending aid today and for those who are thinking of giving aid tomorrow, Pope Francis. Pope Francis said this morning in the midst of the Divine Sacrifice at the Santa Marta Cup on Friday, the day of Vyakula Natha’s commemoration. Pope Francis reminded us that poverty and unemployment are the byproducts of the coronavirus disaster, and that efforts to find solutions in anticipation of the aftermath of tragedy must begin with foresight. The message of the pope was with the preface that today we should meditate on the sorrows of our mother Mary.

The first of the seven concerns of the Mother of God is that a sword will pass through the heart of Mary 40 days after Jesus’ birth. Other pains include fleeing to Egypt to save the Son’s life, the disappearance of the boy Jesus for three days, the encounter of Jesus on the cross with Jesus on the cross, the death of Jesus on the cross, the laying of Jesus on the cross, and the burial of Jesus in the tomb.

The mother did not ask Jesus for anything. We can remember always speaking up for others, just like when we were in Canaan. She never said anything, I was her mother. She never said her mother was queen. She never asked anything important in the fellowship of the apostles. I just acknowledged being a mother. The Gospel points out that she did as a disciple, accompanying other devout women and listening to Jesus. The pope said that we can see our mother as our mother.
