In a letter sent to the 30th Inter-religious prayer meeting on Mount Hiei in Kyoto, Japan, Holy Father Pope Francis conveyed the significance of prayer in a faithful’s life and reminded that through prayers, people of various religions can work together for peace. His Holiness also praised the meeting through his letter highlighting its role in contributing its efforts to the building up of that spirit of dialogue and friendship which allows the world’s religions to work in unity for peace.
As reported by Catholic News Agency, Holy Father Pope Francis remarked that “Prayer inspires and sustains our efforts for peace, because it helps to deepen our reciprocal respect for each other as persons, strengthens the bonds of love between us, and spurs us to make decisive efforts towards promoting just relations and solidarity.”
The meeting was launched in 1987 by Etai Yamada, supreme head of the Tendai Buddhist denomination. The annual prayer meeting of this year closed on 6th August, 2017, remembering the day as the anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima.
