WASHINGTON, DC – Prisoners near Pelser, South Carolina, have been given a new life in Christ when they are transformed into a faith training room. Five people have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord as a result of a special curriculum called the RCIA, which began last year with a comprehensive training program on the life of faith and sacraments. Bishop Robert Gaglielmon of the Diocese of Charleston visited the jail and gave baptism.
One of the prisoners who accepted the baptism said that from the moment they participated in the divine sacrifice, the presence of the Holy Spirit was special and there were many who were welcomed to the church. In charge of the Prison Ministry, Fr. William, a clergyman, leads the divine sacrifice and religious instruction classes in prison only once a week. But as the Holy Spirit intervened, they were eager to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. The conversion of the five people has now affected fellow inmates.
