Abuja: Catholics and bishops held a rally to protest the brutal killing of Christians in Nigeria and to draw the attention of the global community. Hundreds of people, including bishops, clergy and nuns participated in a protest rally from the National Ecumenical Center in the capital, Abuja, demanding security. People took part in the rally carrying a variety of placards, including: ‘Life is sacred and precious’ and ‘Government fulfills its responsibilities’.

The President of the National Catholic Episcopal Council, Rev. Fr. Augustine Akubese charged. The Nigerian President does nothing to bring the perpetrators of the law to justice. Without security, there is no peace. Bishop Akubese said the government’s responsibility is to protect Nigerians. Nigeria is becoming one of the most dangerous countries for Christians.

The situation of Christians in the country is getting more and more difficult every day. According to the Christian charity OpenDorse, about 10 Christians are killed every day for their faith. The Fulani tribesmen and Boko Haram militants are massacring Christians, and the allegation that the Nigerian government is merely looking is strong. Meanwhile, the media is silent on the Christian massacre in Nigeria.
