His Holiness Pope Francis visited the Emanuele village in the northern outskirts of Rome with His Grace Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, as a part of his Mercy Friday tradition. The village is purely dedicated to the care of Peoples suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
The Pontiff was welcomed with gratitude and amazement by the residents and the working staffs residing in the village. His words of comfort provided a sense of relief and happiness among the people. This moral act of His Holiness Pope Francis sheds light on the importance of the care and acceptance needed by the people who suffers such a disease since they are always treated as an outcast by the society.
21st September, 2016 was celebrated as the 23rd World Alzheimer’s day .On that occasion His Holiness Pope Francis invited everyone to remember the solicitude of Mary and with the tenderness of the Merciful Jesus, those affected by this disease, together with their families. He also prayed for the people who are close to the sick, knowing how to grasp their needs.
