The religious leaders in India met under the aegis of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, in Delhi to discuss the problems faced by the people in the country because of mounting religious tensions due to improper implementations of law.   The meeting discussed urged the Indians to have a check on their conscience of hating each other and creating violence all over the country for the sake of religions.   The meeting mainly focused and agreed on a 5 point urgent program of action which included to solve the ideology of hate in the country which is a reality, religious leadership must act as the grassroots to assert the inherent unity of people, Social media must be used as a tool to develop unity, community leaders must be united, a national Inter-Faith and civil society convention to be held soon.

As reported by Matters India, the religious leaders asserted by reflecting on lynching in various states, on the pretext of protecting cow that, “The prime minister must now see that the state government and their police forces acted against guilty in an impartial manner.”

The meeting at the CBCI Center was convoked by Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, general secretary of CBCI.
