Changanassery: The late Archbishop of Changanacherry, founder of Nedumkunnam Sanjivani Mental Center, Mother Teresa Home and former teacher of Vadavathoor Seminary, Rev. Dr. Krishnaswamy, has passed away. The funeral of Antony Mannarkulam today. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm at the family residence at Chunkappara Kothangal with the help of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry. The funeral will take place at 2.15 pm at St. John the Baptist Church, Kottangal, following the sacrifice of Archbishop Mar Joseph. Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, Cardinal Mar George Alencherry will officiate at the closing ceremony.
He was born on March 6, 1943, to Thomas Mariamma, Mannarkulam. He was ordained priest on 18 December 1968 by Archbishop Mar Mathew Kavukattil. He started his career as an assistant vicar at Kappad Mosque. In 1971, Archbishop Mar Antony Pareira was appointed Secretary. He is a physician who has worked tirelessly for the care of the mentally challenged. He has also served as Assistant Director at Manganam MOC.
He was the Founding Director of Sanjeevani, founded by Nedumkunnam Archdiocese in 1993 for the mentally challenged. In 2001, he was appointed to the foundation of Nedumkunnath Mother Teresa Home, Alphonsa Sadan, Karunya Bhavan, and Mother Teresa Children’s Home. Led by Antony Mannarkulam.
