The School Leaders Network organized and conducted SLN Leadership meet on 23rd August, 2017, at Indian School of Design & Innovation (ISDI ACE), Lower Parel, Mumbai, which began from 12:00 noon. The leadership meet mainly covered the influence of social media in education and the mentors focused on explaining the importance of social media in today’s educational system and the catalyst role played by the social media in teaching and learning.
The Chief Guest, Shri Anil Swarup, Secretary of School of Education and Literacy, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, remarked that “Load social media with good things and I guarantee you that social media can be used effectively and it depends upon whether I believe in what I am saying, first you got to change yourself and you got to believe in yourself and once you do that, you will get it around” Many eminent dignitaries were on the discussion panel to explain the significant role of social media in this digitalized world. The first panel discussion was on “Social Media: the Good, The Bad and the Ugly” for which Dr. Swati Popat Vats, president of Podar Network and ECA was the moderator and Ms. Ruchira Ghosh, regional director South Asia, Cambridge International Examinations, and Ms. Jaya Bhatia, Television actress and Mentor, Ms. Elsa Dsilva, founder and CEO of Safecity& Mentor SLN, Ms.Munawira Kotyad Pillai, Director of Pillai Centre for Innovation and Research, Fr. Frazer Mascarenhas were the panelists. The second panel discussion was on “Is social Media a catalyst to Teaching & Learning”, to which Dr.Swaroop Sampat Rawal was the moderator and Mr. Michael Latham, Principal of International Adviser, Asia, Education Development Trust, Ms. Lina Ashar, Founder of Kangaroo Kids Education, Mr. Prajodh Rajan, CEO of Eurokids International, Ms. Ekta Sodha, CEO of Sodha Schools, Ms. Poonam Singh Jamwal, CEO of Extramarks Foundation.
