Bangalore: Twelve seminarians have become deacons for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Bangalore, amidst COVID 19 lockdown circumstances. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore, Dr. Peter Machado took the lead role. Few priests and deacons’ parents were present at the ministry.
The Archbishop said that deaconship was not a position, but a calling to God and a responsibility to serve the church. In the backdrop of COVID 19, few people attended the ceremony to lighten celebrations and maintain social distance. Deacons studying theology from various major seminaries in India shared the joy of God’s call.
