MANILA – The Catholic Church’s seminary has become a haven for travelers stranded on the Philippine island following the forced lockdown following the Corona expansion. St. Joseph’s Seminary in Puerto Princesa has provided shelter to about twenty tourists who have gone into the Palawan province. On March 11, tourists arrived at Palawan Island to celebrate the holiday. But due to the extension of the lockdown following the government order, the cancellation of all domestic and international flights from March 17 to April 12 was a major setback for tourists.

The local authorities were asking for help from the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa, who lived in the guesthouse and was running out of money. The Rector of the Seminary, Fr. Roy Vasquez said. He added that the seminary is ready to help those who are in a similar situation.
