Chicago: Gabriel Award for Best Catholic TV Channel for ‘Shalom World.’ The Gabriel Award is an internationally recognized award instituted by the Catholic Press Association of USA and Canada in recognition of excellence in electronic media. Shalom World was selected for the TV Station of the Year award from leading channels including EWTN, The Catholic TV Network, Salt and Light TV. EWTN, the world’s largest Catholic media chain, is second.
Gabriel was also honored with the “Martyr’s Shrine” episode of the ‘Journal’ series, aired by Salome World. The Journal is a series about world-renowned Christian pilgrimages. In addition, the Shalom World Web site received special mention in the Best Television Channel website category and the ‘Little Daglings’ in the children’s program category. Pravin Sonic is the producer of ‘Martyrs Shrine’ and ‘Little Diggings’ produced by Shalom Media Canada.
It was a huge achievement that Shalom World was selected as the best channel in just six years after the broadcast began. Salome’s patrons were congratulated by the foreign patriarchs of Shalom Media, the Syro-Malabar Bishop of Chicago, Mar Jacob Angadiyath, and the Syro-Malankara Bishop Philip Maros Stephen of North America.
Established in 1911 by the Catholic Press Association as a collective of Catholic journalists and publishers, the Gabriel Award is one of the many awards presented to honor and encourage media involvement in the growth of the church. The awards will be presented at the Press Association’s annual conference in June.
On April 27, 2014, the ‘Salome World’ was created by Pope John Paul II and John XXIII, who provided the livelihood from the Vatican for the time being. In the first phase, ‘Shalom World’, which was only available in the US and Canada, was a huge achievement in six years. What is important is that it grew from one channel to three channels. ‘Shalom World’ reaches over 1.5 billion people in more than 145 countries through channels designed specifically for the continents of North America, Europe, and Australia.
