New Research conveys that the Shroud of Turin, a length of linen cloth bearing the image of a man who is alleged to be Jesus of Nazareth, located in the Cathedral of St.John, the Baptist, in Italy features the blood of a torture victim. According to the new research, the researchers observed that the small nanoparticles attached to the linen fibers of the shroud has a scenario of great suffering and they noticed the it had a peculiar structure, size and distribution. The Shroud of Turin is considered and has been venerated by Christian as the burial shroud of Jesus Christ.
As reported by the Catholic News Agency, Holy Father Pope Francis emphasized that “The Shroud attracts us towards the martyred face and body of Jesus and it also pushes us towards the face of every suffering and unjustly persecuted person.” His Holiness continued, “ The Shroud pushes us in the same direction as the gift of Jesus’ love.”
The research was carried out by the Instituo Officia dei Materiali in Trieste and the Institute of Crystallography in Bari, both under Italy’s National Research Council, as well as the University of Padua’s Department of Industrial Engineering.
