Colombo: Sri Lankan police will record the statements of former President Maithripala Sirisena in the case of the terrorist attack in Sri Lanka on Easter Day. The case is based on allegations that the then chief of police and the defense secretary failed to prevent an attack that left hundreds of Christians dead despite warnings from the intelligence community. According to the court, the statement was recorded by the intelligence division of the Sri Lankan police.

On Easter Day, April 21, suicide bombs exploded in two Catholic churches, a Protestant church and three hotels. The violence killed 258 people and injured more than five hundred. The attack was carried out by the National Tawheed Jamaat, a local militant group backed by Islamic State. Police have already arrested more than 100 people.
