The Sri Lankan Catholic community attended the live Telecast of Holy Mass from their respective homes for the second consecutive Sunday after witnessing Violent Terrorist attacks during the Easter Eve earlier this year. His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjit, Archbishop of Colombo celebrated the Holy Mass in his private Chappell which was telecasted live through different television channels Only priests and religious clergies were present during the celebration of this Holy Mass.
Since the fear of new attacks is still prominent on the Christian places of Worship in Sri Lanka, the Catholic Church in the country has taken the decision to cancel the Sunday Masses until further notice. It was April 21st, 2019, the Islamist suicide bombers planned a coordinated attack in six different locations which included Catholic churches and Hotels killing at least 250 people. All the churches have been guarded with security personnel. Although the schools above 6th grade will be opening this week, the schools and the colleges under the religious constitution will remain closed for some time.
