Vatican City / Mysore: The Vatican has passed the decree to raise the St. Anthony Church of Dornahalli under the Mysore Diocese to the position of Minor Basilica. The decree issued by Pope Francis on October 17 has been officially approved. Bishop of Mysore Dr. K. A. William stated. He mentioned that the Catholic Church is united with the Pope and that the diocese is responsible for the pastoral activities of the diocese.
The Bishop added that under the Domes Ecclesia Decree issued on November 9, 1989, he was obligated to perform the duties of pastoral care in addition to the privileges associated with the Minor Basilica. He also announced that the Thanksgiving and Celebrations of the Minor Basilica will soon be decided. In the first week of October, the shrine of the Harihar health saint at Shivamoga was also elevated to a minor basilica.
