St. Antony’s Church, Vakola, Mumbai holds a week-long event ‘October Light’ for catechism children to enhance the significance of light during Diwali vacation. The Students Faith Academy of St. Anthony’s Church organized this event from October 16-21, 2017, for the children in the age group of 7 to 14 years included Vacation Bible Joy coupled with foot tapping Dance Workshop and Creative Art & Craft workshop.
The workshop mainly focused on explaining the Ten-Commandments- two commandments each day- with the aid of an innovative ready to use kit given by the Ministry of Word and Worship and the creative sessions made the Bible truly come alive and was an enriching experience for the children.
Handout and activity sheets, video clips and power-point presentations made Vacation Bible joy more effective and unforgettable for participants. As per the children’s feedback, October Light indeed brought out the inner light of the children enabling them to learn and have fun during their annual Diwali vacation, the festival of lights.
