Rome: St. Timothy’s Transfiguration to Rome as part of Prayer Week for Christian Unity The remains of St. Paul, the beloved disciple of St. Paul, will be laid for worship at St. Paul’s Basilica tomorrow, January 25. The Pope will be brought to St. Peter’s Basilica the next day after the Pope announces the Word of God. Pope Francis will continue to offer Mass. Bishop Gianfranco D’Luca said that St. Timothy’s reminder is shared by brothers in the Eastern Church.

The remains of Saint Timothy were discovered during the restoration of the Cathedral at Termoli in 1945. The tomb, where the physical body was stored, was covered with marble. The inscription on the marble states that Christ died in the year 1239 and that Timothy, the successor of the Apostles, had eternal peace. Saint Timothy is venerated mainly in Orthodox Catholic churches.
