THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Minority Department has invited applications for the Mother Teresa Scholarship for students belonging to families below the poverty line of minority religious groups studying in Government / aided institutions for Nursing Diploma / Paramedical courses. The scholarship is for students of Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi and Jains who are permanent residents of Kerala. Candidates who have secured merit seats in Government recognized Self Financing Nursing Colleges can also apply for scholarships. 45% marks in the qualifying examination
In the absence of BPL applicants, the APL category with annual income up to Rs 8 lakh will be considered for minority religious groups. Those who have started the course / first year can apply for the scholarship. Only one-time scholarships are available. Those who received the scholarship last year will not have to reapply this year. 50% of the scholarship is reserved for girls. Scholarships are also offered to eligible boys if there is no fixed percentage of girls. The selection of students is based on the annual income of the family. Applicants should have their own personal bank accounts in any nationalized bank.
