In a shocking incident, two statues of Mother Mary were vandalised at the Christian Village in Kurla West, Mumbai on Sunday early morning.  The incidents occurred at First Cross (Diago) and near Johny Cross (Garage Rocky) Kurla West, where two unidentified bikers in helmet, pelted paver blocks on two statues of Mother Mary. The eyewitnesses state that the incident occurred around 4 am this morning.

In the evening, the vandalised statues were brought back to the Holy Cross Church, Kurla W. Fr. Pascal Sinor, Asst Parish Priest of the parish said, “the statues were brought back to the Church around 4.00 pm.  At 4.30 pm we had a special prayer session for the peace and the establishment of justice, where more than 5000 faithful gathered.  It is decided, until justice is delivered, the statues will be kept in the Church and special prayers will be conducted everyday”

“Since morning, the entire Christian village in Kurla has hit the streets demanding justice and peace in the locality” says Mr. Johnson Philip Misquitta.  The peaceful protest of the faithful and supporters halted normal flow of traffic at the LBS Marg and Kohinoor roads of Kurla W.  As a result, the top cops visited the area and assured the crowd that a just action would be taken soon.
