Amidst the scare of spreading the Covid-19 pandemic, the Diocese of Kalyan for the first time in its history streamed the Obligatory Sunday Holy Qurbana through Youtube. Abiding by the government regulations, the Diocese suspended all services, activities, and gatherings of each individual parishes, in order to curb the spreading of the Pandemic Virus. In view of the situation, the Holy Qurbana was held online for all the faithful through the official Diocesan Media Channel, the Catholic Focus.
Two Holy Mass was held in the morning, both in Malayalam and English. The Malayalam Holy Mass was celebrated by His Lordship Mar Thomas Elavanal, Bishop of the Diocese of Kalyan,at 8:30am. Followed by the Malayalam mass was the English Holy Mass celebrated by Vicar General Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Kadankavil.
For those who missed out on the two services in the morning, another episode of Holy Qurbana was celebrated by Rev, Fr. Kuriakose Kalaparambath. All of these services were held at St. Thomas Cathedral, Kalyan West, with the minimum public physically attending the service. The Diocesan Youtube channel also streams Holy Qurbana on all the days of the week, twice a day since the government’s regulations regarding suspension of gatherings came into being.
