
The Syro-Malabar Church Synod begins prayerfully at Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad, Kerala. Under the guidance of His Eminence Cardinal George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, the Synod is expected to long 6 days, with around 59 Cardinals. The Synod began after a retreat conducted by His Excellency Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkattu of Kottayam, following which the Cardinal gathered there offered Holy Mass in the presence of Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church.
His Eminence Cardinal Mar Alencherry inaugurated the Synod by lighting the lamp, on 9th January 2018. This is the 26th Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church.
