Kakkanad: The 22nd Synod of the Syro-Malabar Bishops begins on January 10, 2020, at Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad. Of the 64 bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church, 58 are expected to attend the Synod. The meditation, which will begin on January 7 in preparation for the Synod, will conclude on 9 January. Meditation was led by Redemptorist clergyman, Rev. Fr. Ival Mendoza. Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry will officially inaugurate the Synod. The affairs of the Synod then proceed according to the ordinance of the Synod.
