Tellicherry Archdiocese in Kerala expressed their solidarity with the people in Kerala by planning to spend 7crores for the victims of the unprecedented floods caused by torrential rains in the southern state of Kerala.His Excellency Archbishop George Njaralakkattu of the archdiocese made this announcement in a meeting of different representatives of the flood relief operations.
The Archdiocese have decided to help 40 homeless families by providing 3 acres of land either in – Pariyaram, Chenthaperi, Shantinagar, Bedoor areas. The Archbishop highlighted that the farmers would be helped in retaining good land for their agricultural use.
Along with food items, the archdiocese have made it a point to take care of their brethren by providing them clothing and other needy materials. More than 1200 volunteers of the Archdiocese have made themselves available for cleaning the homes of the flood victims. 160 seminarians from Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kunnoth, have engaged themselves in cleaning the affected houses since a week.
