Rome: After the Canonization ceremony of Saint Mariam Thresia Chiramel Mankidiyan, Thanksgiving Holy Qurbana was celebrated at Saint Anastasia Basilica, Rome on 14th October 2019. The main celebrant of the Thanksgiving Holy mass was the head of the Syro Malabar Church, major archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alenchery. The Holy Qurbana was co celebrated by the bishop of the Diocese of Changanacherry, Mar Joseph Perunthottam, the bishop of the Archdiocese of Thrissur, Mar Andrews Thazhathu, Saint Mariam Thresia’s home Diocese Bishop, Mar Pauly Kannukadan and the Apostolic Visitator of Europe, Mar Stephen Chirapanath.


After the procession with the saint’s relics, the Thanksgiving mass began at 10:30 a.m. (Vatican Time). As part of the the apostolic visitation, the vicar of the church Rev. Fr. Cherian Varikkatu welcome the gathering. The apostille president of Europe, Mar Stephen Chirapanath welcomed everyone to the Holy Qurbana and the following rituals. After the offertory was elected members, the Holy Qurbana preceded.
The thanksgiving mass was attended by various renowned members of society. MP D N Prathapan, retired Supreme Court judge, Justice Kurian Joseph, various Reverend priest and nuns from the length and breadth of India participated in the mass. Representing the congregation of the Holy Family, Mother Superior Rev. Sister Udaya CHF, councilors and provincial superiors were present. Sisters from many congregations, their superior generals and provincial superiors offered the Holy Qurbana with much devotion and gratitude.


Mar Pauly Kannukadan expressed thanks to all those who attended the canonization ceremony. Representing the CHF congregation, Sr. Pushpa CHF extended her token of gratitude to the attendees. Following the vote of thanks, the gathering received the blessings and the ceremony concluded with agape. The Thanksgiving mass marked the end of all spiritual rituals in Rome related to the Canonization of St. Mariam Thresia Chiramel
