THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: St Mary’s Cathedral in Thiruvananthapuram, is all geared for the 67th commemoration feast of Archbishop Mar Ivanios, the founder of the Bethany Ashram, the architect of the Malankara Reunion Movement and the first bishop of the Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram. The feast will be held from today till 15th. Every evening there will be evening services, the Mass, and prayers at his tomb. Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis Catholica Bava celebrated the Holy Mass at Ranni, Pathanamthitta which was the de facto land of Mar Ivanios.
Archbishop Thomas Mar Curielos, Bishops Joshua Mar Ignatius, Yuhanon Mar Chrysostom, Abraham Mar Iulioz, Vicar Joseph Moruenos, Thomas Eugenio, Matthew Manakarakavil, Core Episcopa, Mon. Varkey Atpurathum, Mon. Bethany Ashram Superior General Fr. Jos. Kuruvilla OIC, Karimpanamanil Abraham Rampan, Malankara Major Seminary Rector Fr. Sunny Mathew will lead the event.
A special commemorative prayer and liturgical blessing will be held at the tomb on 14th. Major Archbishop Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Catholica Bava will officiate the Memorial Mass on the morning of the closing day. Arrangements have been made to offer rituals for those who arrive at the tombstone at various times from today till the 14th. Only those who book in advance will have the opportunity. The adjustments were made in accordance with the Covid 19 guidelines. Every year, pilgrimages to Mavelikkara, Thiruvalla and Muvattupuzha centers take place during this feastal celebration, however, due to the given circumstances it is excluded this year. The final services of the feastal commemoration will be held on the 15th and will be open only to those who have acquired permissions in advance.
