The Ad Limina Meet of all the Syro Malabar Bishops commences at Rome. The meet happens one every five years at the Vatican City. The meet is scheduled to begin today. Ad Limina was conducted previously during the tenure of Pope Benedict XVI in 2011. Under the leadership of Major Archbishop George Allenchery, 51 other bishops from various syro malabar churches have traveled to Rome, to attend the conference.
The conference would be officially inaugurated after the co-celebration of Holy Qurbana at the tomb of St. Peter, followed by the meeting with the Pontiff. In the following days, the bishops would visit the four different basilica’s and offer holy Qurbana. They are also scheduled to visit the 16 curia offices in Rome.
While their stay, the bishops would also attend the canonization of Bl. Mariam Thressia on October 13. The Ad Limina would be coordinated by the Apostolic Visitator of Europe, H.E. Mar Stephen Chirapanath, Rev. Dr. Cherian Varikattu, Rev. Fr. Biu Muttathukunnel, Rev. Fr. Binoj Mulavarickal and Rev. Fr. Sanal Malliyeckal. The bishops are scheduled to return on the 14th of October.
