Kochi: The KCBC declares that the propaganda of some organizations against the church that spreads the biased news regarding the protest to be held on 27th is misleading. The Jacobite Church is holding a protest march on November 27th to the Secretariate on account of the problems generated post a recent verdict passed by the Supreme Court. Many news has surfaced which states that this protest is held to urge the application of the Church Act on the recent turn of events.

The way in which the Orthodox Jacobite Orthodox Churches have been able to resolve religious and religious disputes is not to create a crisis for all Christian denominations. Some anti-ecclesiastical centers are of the view that the proposed Church Bill should be enacted with the objective of destroying the hierarchy and integrity of the Church.

The KCBC urged all Christian denominations to be vigilant so as not to fall into this trap. The propaganda that there is currently no law to deal with the substance of the church is false. The existing civil laws and laws of the country apply to the handling of the goods and institutions of the church. They are governed by the rules. In case of any violation, there is already a mechanism to approach the concerned authorities or civil courts and seek redress. Therefore, it is baseless to argue that a new law must be dealt with transparently and equitably, and in the event of misuse or mismanagement of the church’s assets and institutions.

It is not correct to say that when the property of Hindu, Muslim and Sikh communities is regulated under the special law, it is not discriminatory to treat the properties of churches. Neither the Waqf Board nor the Devaswom Board has been established to deal with the properties and institutions of the churches. Religious rights guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws and civil laws already in place to ensure transparent and equitable governance of the Church’s property and institutions.

For this reason, the system of waqf and Devaswom boards and similar new laws are irrelevant to the administration and control of the properties and institutions of the churches. KCBC said that the propaganda that the Church Act should be implemented through anti-Church centers and the need to solve the current crisis in the Jacobite Church is a misunderstanding.
