Bucharest: The first Catholic television channel was born in Romania when the Holy Mass and other services were alienated following the Corona crisis. The Romanian church has started a television channel called “Maria TV” focusing on the specific needs of believers in their spiritual needs, the unity and activeness of the Christian community. Earlier, during the lock down, Sunday’s Divine sacrifice was aired on national television. During this period, clergymen became deeply aware of the handling of the new media.
Religious instruction, meetings, and formation classes began to be offered over the Internet. In Romania, 70% of households have access to the Internet, but only 50% of those over the age of 55 use the Internet. Considering this fact, the Romanian Church has finally reached out to all believers through its own channel of long preparation. Latino and Byzantine Holy Mass and other services from different parts of the country are now streamed on the channel. The channel also brings various services of the Pope to the faithful.
