Following the government’s grant of concessions on coronavirus controls, the Holy Communion, which is common in the 3 dioceses of Vietnam, was resumed.
Alphonse Nguyen Hugh Long, bishop of the Vinh diocese, gave the clergy of his diocese the permission to open the shrine and offer the liturgy to meet the spiritual needs of the faithful. He also announced that the online Holy Mass will not be seen from April 25.
The diocese, located in the province of Nye Anne, abolished public sacrifice a month ago. Bishop Alphonse Nguyen has suggested that the length of the Holy Eucharist should be shortened and that very few people should attend the Mass.
The diocese of Vinh consists of 290,000 believers and 183 clergies. The diocese has also given instructions on how to get to the Mass by wearing a mask, eating well, and accepting Holy Communion in the hands. Alphonse Nguyen told the believing community that there must be care for the health and that we should do everything possible to eradicate the virus.
Paul Nguyen, bishop of the Ha Dinh Diocese, gave permission to 132 clergymen of the diocese to offer a liturgical Mass with a small crowd. He also instructed that believers should attend the Mass on Sundays and other feast days. Bishop Paul Nguyen said people with symptoms like fever and cough should not come to the church.
He also gave the clergy the right to confess the believers with the required distance and wear the mask. The Myo Tho Diocese of South Vietnam, with the permission of the government, has decided to begin public works. As of April 24, 270 people have been infected with the virus in Vietnam.
