Abu Dhabi: A new church for the Christian community will rise in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Church of South India (CSI) is to be laid on the foundation stone of a new church built in Abu Murike for the believers. Prayers will be held at the St Andrews Church, the oldest Anglican church in the UAE. Nahyan bin Mubarak, the UAE’s tolerant minister, and hundreds of believers will attend the ceremony at St. Andrew’s Church. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, gave four acres of land to build the shrine.
The CSI Church, which began in 1990 with fifty believers, now has about six thousand believers nationwide. It is estimated that after forty years, more than 80,000 Malayalees, including some Malayalees, can come here to pray. The CSI church already has a shrine in Fujairah. The construction of the shrine is expected to take about a year. The church is scheduled to open in 2021 to be worshiped. In September this year, the government granted licenses to 18 non-Muslim places of worship.
