Pathanamthitta: A Christian woman who was acquainted by the perpetrator with Facebook has accused the latter of abducting her by threatening her and showing her morphed pictures. The South Zone had filed a complaint with the South Zone AJI over the attempt of abduction. The Kannur resident is a nurse and the mother of a four-year-old girl. Pathanamthitta district police chief has launched an investigation. The cyber wing of the police is also investigating the matter.
The relevant part of the complaint lodged by the woman’s mother Aiji is as follows: her daughter’s husband is in Dubai. Their four-year-old baby is in the country. On March 23, some pictures were taken of the woman’s mother, brother, and husband on their phones. The images were deleted in a few minutes. Later, he received a message that he was in love with the girl and if he opposed, he would kidnap the woman.
Investigations revealed that the youth was a native of Kannur. Following the threats, the complaint alleges that the mother had come to know that he was blackmailing his daughter by showing her the pictures. In the meantime, the daughter called her mother saying she was quitting her job in Saudi and would be moving to another place in Dubai for three years. This is why her mother decided to approach the police. The young man promoted the pictures on social media.
There are suspicions that the Christian girl is being dragged into the net with intent, including conversion. On the subject, Christian organizations, including ‘Casa’, have been supporting the family.
