Kalpetta: The Thonichal Parish Reserve Force has been formed in the Diocese of Mananthavady with the aim of providing relief when natural calamities or other calamities befall the country. The reserve force was formed under the leadership of the youth of St. Sebastian’s Parish. In the first phase, there are sixty-six members in the community. The aim of this force is to volunteer in emergencies. The operations of the Reserve Force include resolving traffic congestion, delivering essential items, and ensuring medicine and medical care. Initially, the activities of the Reserve Force will be spread to the people by spreading posters and awareness messages through the new media.
Necessary training will be imparted to the reserve personnel under the leadership of the District Disaster Management Authority and the Health Department. The training will focus on primary care and fire safety. The committee will be co-ordinated by Mananthavady Tehsildar (Land Records) Thonichal Parishioner Augustine Moongananil and General Joey Kattakayam.
