PALA: Sisters of St Martha’s (SMC) nuns have been appointed Major Archy Episcopal. On March 11, 1958, the monastic community was founded with the aim of serving the women and children of Moolamattom. The service follows the path of Saint Martha of Bethany. The SMC oversees the nursery school, day care centers, tailoring centers, seal care, educational services, hospitality, children’s homes, counseling, evangelization, dis-penises, old age homes, women’s empowerment and hostels for girls.
There are 48 branch houses and seven ministry centers in Kerala, various dioceses of India, Germany and Italy. Since 2008 Revd. The Spiritual Director is Joseph Guzinil. The announcement of the upliftment of the society to the rank of Major Archy Episcopal will be held at 2.30 pm tomorrow at the General Palace Palace by Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangadu and Bishop Mar Sebastian Vaniyapurakkal Olliyaavar.
