The tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis in Assisi’s Sanctuary of the Renunciation (part of Church of St. Mary Major) was permanently reopened for veneration. The panel covering the tomb was opened by Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino on June 1.
Blessed Carlo Acutis is the first millennial to be beatified in the Catholic Church. He was known for documenting and cataloguing Eucharistic Miracles not a website before his death from leukaemia. He had offered his suffering for the Pope and the Church. “Blessed Carlo’s witness shows today’s young people that true happiness is found by putting God in first place and serving Him in our brothers and sisters,” said Pope Francis.
Blessed Carlo Acutis was born on 3 May, 1991and died on 10 October, 2006. He was beatified on 10 October, 2020 by Pope Francis. Recently, he was named as one of the patrons of World Youth Day set to take place in August 2023 at Lisbon, Portugal.
