Washington, DC: Jos Gomez, president of the American National Bishops Council and Los Angeles Archbishop, has announced that America will be reassigned to “the Mother of the Church.” The resubmission is due on the first of May. On April 22 he wrote to members of the bishop’s committee requesting him to be part of the reconstruction on the same day. On the same day, the Canadian bishops committee will also reassign the countries to the mother. Every year in May, the Church seeks the special intercession of the Mother of God. Archbishop Jos Gomez said in a letter that he was “sincerely seeking the Mother of God” in the face of the corona pandemic this year.
He explained that the decision was made to hold the re-submission on May 1 for renegotiation, following a discussion with the Canadian bishop’s leadership and the executive committee of the American bishop’s committee. Archbishop Gomez said that the Secretariat and Communications Department for the Metropolitan Congregation of Worship will provide more details in the coming days. The Italian Bishops’ Council has recently announced that it will submit to the mother of the nation in honor of the request of the faithful.
Pope Paul VI gave the Holy Virgin Mary the title of Mother of the Church. Pope Francis has urged the Global Church in 2018 to commemorate the liturgy of Mary, the Mother of the Church, on Monday following Pentecost. Archbishop Jos Gomez added in the letter that on May 1, patients, caregivers, and those who may have been affected by the disease could take the opportunity to seek Mary’s care.
In the context of COVID, various countries are coming forward to re-submit to the Mother of God. Thirty countries, including India, have resigned over the past month, claiming the lives of over 185,000 people, affecting over 26 lakh people.
