For the second time in two months, St. Jude’s Thaddeus church in Ashok Vihar, located in Gulabi Bagh, New Delhi, was robbed. The first incident occurred on the night of April 18, 2020. The thieves broke into the church’s ventilator exhaust fan and stole all the valuables. Items including 12 expensive microphones, a small amplifier, a portable amplifier with a speaker, a CCTV monitor and a vacuum cleaner were stolen. The culprits had opened the church’s tabernacle.
The case was registered under FIR No. 144/2020, 380/457 IPC at the Delhi Police Station Sarai Rohilla. Despite the assurance from the SHO, the accused have not been arrested nor has the stolen valuables been recovered. The second robbery occurred on the night of June 14. This time, the thieves broke the church’s windows. They escaped with large amplifiers, mixer units, microphones, monitors, AC copper pipes, golden crosses, silver buckets, steel dispensers, CCTV hard disks, Holy objects used in Service and so on. Sarai Rohilla police has assured that necessary action will be taken.
