On 2nd July 2017, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Muller, Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church in an interview given to a German newspaper from Mainz, Allgemeine Zeitung, told that the decision of not extending his term as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the faith by Pope Francis was a normal and was not the result of the conflict between him and Pope Francis.
His Eminence, was given the position to lead the Vatican’s doctrine Office, the most important dicastery in the Roman Curia by Pope Benedict XVI before his resignation in 2012.
