Thousands of people lined at the Bishop House at Malaparamba, to bid mourning farewell to former Bishop Dr. Maxwell Valentine Noronha of Calicut Diocese, who passed away on 28th January, 2018. The mortal remains of the retired bishop were brought to the Mother of God here Monday afternoon after prayers held at the chapel attached to the hospital and later at the Bishop House at Malaparamba.
His Grace Bishop Maxwell who led the diocese for 22 years from 1980, died due to old age-related ailments at the Nirmala Hospital at Vellimadukunnu at 11.20 pm on 28th January.
His Excellency Bishop was ordained a bishop on 7 September 1980. He served the diocese of Calicut for 22 years from 1980-2002. Bishop Maxwell resigned at the age of 75. He spent rest of his life in the Shalom Priest Home at Vellimadukunnu, Calicut.
