Major Archiepiscopal Martha Mariam Archdeacon Tourist Pilgrim Church in Kerala, will celebrate its Kappalottam (a sailing vessel pompously carried to commemorate the journey of Prophet Jonah) on 23rd January, 2018. Newly ordained priests of Pala Diocese celebrated the Holy Mass at 7:00 am on this second day of the feast (Moonu Noyambu) and the chief celebrant for the Holy Mass at 8:30 am was Yuhanon Mar Theodosious and Mar Thomas Tharayil was the chief celebrant for the Holy Mass at 10:00 am.
Three days fast known also as the Rogation of Ninevites, a movable feast celebrated on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, three weeks prior to the beginning of Lent. Two very special features are “Aana Ezhunnalippu”(procession with an elephant in front) and “Kappalottam”(a sailing vessel pompously carried to commemorate the journey of Prophet Jonah), on the second day. Tradition is that Muthiamma appeared to the children on the second day of Moonnu Noimbu.
