Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair asks Holy Father Pope Francis to pray for him, when they met at the Vatican during the Pontiff’s weekly audience at St. Peter’s Square. The meeting happened on the same day as the funeral of His Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, who helped Blair’s conversion from Anglicanism.

As reported by catholicherald.co.uk, the former Prime Minister told His Holiness Pope Francis that “It’s a pleasure to meet you, a real honor, please pray for me. I need your prayers.” Blair, who converted to Catholicism after leaving office, expressed his concern for the situation of minorities in the Middle East and offered his help.

Tony Blair was welcomed into the Catholic Church by His Eminence Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor, in the chapel of the Archbishop’s House in Westminster, years before.
