WASHINGTON, DC – President Donald Trump on Thursday issued a stern warning to school officials over the right of private students to pray in public schools in the United States. The President of the United States has announced his commitment to protect the freedom of worship of students during a religious observance ceremony held at the Oval Office on January 16 with Christian Jewish and Muslim students and teachers on the occasion of National Religious Freedom Day. Trump has announced that he will abolish federal funding for schools that violate students’ religious freedom.
The president’s stern warning comes as students and teachers complain that they are facing discrimination in schools. Trump said the government should never come between God and the people. Donald Trump added that public schools have often been forbidden from praying to children and sharing their faith, but that is not acceptable. Vibhuti Wednesday, a nine-year-old McLeod, who had to be wiped out because of pressure from school authorities, who had painted his forehead in ashes, and Malek Hijaz, who complained that the school was unable to protect itself from anti-Islamic violence, attended the event.
Meanwhile, the United States Bishop of the United States has taken to the stage to congratulate the Trump administration on the status of religious freedom. US Senate Chairman George V. Reyes, chair of the US Patriarch Committee, said the country is grateful for its religious freedom on Thanksgiving Day and appreciates the Trump administration’s steadfast efforts to find faith-based social service providers. Murray SJ wrote in a statement released on National Religious Freedom Day.
